ροὺς γενομένους ἀπὸ παντὸς μολυσμοῦ σαρκὸς καὶ πνεύματος, τυχεῖν τῶν προκειμένων ἀγαθῶν, καὶ μηδένα ἡμῶν ἀνάξιον κρίνης, ἀλλὰ βοηθὸς ἡμῶν γενοῦ, ἀντιλήπτωρ, ὑπερασπιστής, διὰ τοῦ Χριστοῦ σου· μεθ' οὗ σοὶ δόξα, τιμή, αἶνος, δοξολογία, εὐχαριστία, καὶ τῷ ἁγίῳ πνεύματι, εἰς 5 τοὺς αἰῶνας. ἀμήν” καὶ μετὰ τὸ πάντας εἰπεῖν, ἀμήν· ὁ διάκονος λεγέτω· “ πρόσχωμεν καὶ ὁ ἐπίσκοπος προσφωνησάτω τῷ λαῷ οὕτω. “τὰ ἅγια τοῖς ἁγίοις.” καὶ ὁ λαὸς ὑπακουέτω· “ εἷς ἅγιος, εἷς κύριος, εἷς Ἰησοῦς Χρίστος, εἰς δόξαν Θεοῦ πατρός, εὐλογητὸς εἰς τοὺς αἰῶνας. αμήν. το δόξα ἐν ὑψίστοις Θεῷ, καὶ ἐπὶ γῆς εἰρήνη, ἐν ἀνθρώποις εὐδοκία. Ὡσαννὰ τῷ υἱῷ Δαβίδ· εὐλογημένος ὁ ἐρχό μενος ἐν ὀνόματι κυρίου, Θεὸς κύριος, καὶ ἐπεφάνη ἡμῖν· Ὡσαννὰ ἐν τοῖς ὑψίστοις.” καὶ μετὰ τοῦτο μεταλαμ βανέτω ὁ ἐπίσκοπος, ἔπειτα οἱ πρεσβύτεροι, καὶ οἱ διάκονοι, 15 καὶ ὑποδιάκονοι, καὶ οἱ ἀναγνῶσται, καὶ οἱ ψάλται, καὶ οἱ ἀσκηταί, καὶ ἐν ταῖς γυναιξιν αἱ διακόνισσαι, καὶ αἱ παρθένοι, καὶ αἱ χήραι, εἶτα τὰ παιδία, καὶ τότε πᾶς ὁ λαὸς κατὰ τάξιν μετὰ αἰδοῦς καὶ εὐλα βείας ἄνευ θορύβου. καὶ ὁ μὲν ἐπίσκοπος διδότω τὴν προσ- 20 φοράν, λέγων· “ σῶμα Χριστοῦ.” καὶ ὁ δεχόμενος λεγέτω “ἀμήν ὁ δὲ διάκονος κατεχέτω τὸ ποτήριον, καὶ ἐπιδιδοὺς λεγέτω· “ αἷμα Χριστοῦ, ποτήριον ζωῆς·” καὶ ὁ πίνων λεγέτω σε αμήν. ψαλμὸς δὲ λεγέσθω τριακοστός τρίτος, ἐν τῷ μεταλαμβάνειν πάντας τους λοιπούς. καὶ ὅταν 25 πάντες μεταλάβωσι καὶ πᾶσαι, λαβόντες οι διάκονοι τὰ περισσεύσαντα, εἰσφερέτωσαν εἰς τὰ παστοφόρια. καὶ ὁ διάκονος λεγέτω, παυσαμένου τοῦ ψάλλοντος.

“ Μεταλαβόντες τοῦ τιμίου σώματος, καὶ τοῦ τιμίου αίματος τοῦ Χριστοῦ, εὐχαριστήσωμεν τῷ καταξιώσαντι 30 ἡμᾶς μεταλαβεῖν τῶν ἁγίων αὐτοῦ μυστηρίων, καὶ παρα καλέσωμεν, μὴ εἰς κρίμα, ἀλλ ̓ εἰς σωτηρίαν ἡμῖν γενέσθαι, εἰς ὠφέλειαν ψυχῆς καὶ σώματος, εἰς φυλακὴν εὐσεβείας, εἰς ἄφεσιν ἁμαρτιῶν, εἰς ζωὴν τοῦ μέλλοντος αἰῶνος.

ἐγειρώμεθα. ἐν χάριτι Χριστοῦ ἑαυτοὺς τῷ Θεῷ, τῷ μόνῳ ἀγεννήτῳ Θεῷ, καὶ τῷ Χριστῷ αὐτοῦ παραθώμεθα.” καὶ ὁ ἐπίσκοπος εὐχαριστείτω.

“ Δέσποτα ὁ Θεὸς ὁ παντοπράτορ, ὁ πατὴρ τοῦ Χριστοῦ 5 σου τοῦ εὐλογητοῦ παιδός, ὁ τῶν μετ ̓ εὐθύτητος ἐπικαλουμένων σε ἐπήκοος, ὁ καὶ τῶν σιωπώντων ἐπιστάμενος τὰς ἐντεύξεις· εὐχαριστοῦμέν σοι, ὅτι κατηξίωσας ἡμᾶς μεταλαβεῖν τῶν ἁγίων σου μυστηρίων, ἃ παρέσχου ἡμῖν, εἰς πληρο φορίαν τῶν καλῶς ἐγνωσμένων, εἰς φυλακὴν τῆς εὐσεβείας, 10 εἰς ἄφεσιν πλημμελημάτων· ὅτι τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ Χριστοῦ σου ἐπικέκληται ἐφ' ἡμᾶς, καὶ σοὶ προσῳκειώμεθα. ὁ χωρίσας ἡμᾶς τῆς τῶν ἀσεβῶν κοινωνίας, ἕνωσον ἡμᾶς μετὰ τῶν καθωσιωμένων σοι, στήριξον ἡμᾶς ἐν τῇ ἀληθείᾳ τῇ τοῦ ἁγίου πνεύματος ἐπιφοιτήσει, τὰ ἀγνοούμενα ἀποκάλυψον, 15 τὰ λείποντα προσαναπλήρωσον, τὰ ἐγνωσμένα κράτυνον. τοὺς ἱερεῖς ἀμώμους διαφύλαξον ἐν τῇ λατρείᾳ σου· τοὺς βασιλεῖς διατήρησον ἐν εἰρήνῃ, τοὺς ἄρχοντας ἐν δικαιοσύνῃ, τοὺς ἀέρας ἐν εὐκρασίᾳ, τοὺς καρποὺς ἐν εὐφορίᾳ, τον κόσμον ἐν παναλκεῖ προνοίᾳ. τὰ ἔθνη τὰ πολεμικὰ πράϋνον· 20 τὰ πεπλανημένα επίστρεψον· τὸν λαόν σου ἁγίασον. τοὺς ἐν παρθενίᾳ διατήρησον· τοὺς ἐν γάμῳ διαφύλαξον ἐν πίστει· τοὺς ἐν ἁγνείᾳ ἐνδυνάμωσον· τὰ νήπια ἅδρυνον· τοὺς νεοτελεῖς βεβαίωσον· τοὺς ἐν κατηχήσει παίδευσον, καὶ τῆς μυήσεως αξίους ἀνάδειξον· καὶ πάντας ἡμᾶς ἐπι25 συνάγαγε εἰς τὴν τῶν οὐρανῶν βασιλείαν, ἐν Χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ τῷ κυρίῳ ἡμῶν· μεθ ̓ οὗ σοὶ δόξα, τιμὴ καὶ σέβας, καὶ τῷ ἁγίῳ πνεύματι, εἰς τοὺς αἰῶνας. αμήν.” καὶ ὁ διάκονος λεγέτω· “τῷ Θεῷ διὰ τοῦ Χριστοῦ αὐτοῦ κλίνατε, καὶ εὐλογεῖσθε.” καὶ ὁ ἐπίσκοπος ἐπευχέσθω, λέγων· “ ὁ Θεὸς 30 ὁ παντοκράτωρ, ὁ ἀληθινὸς καὶ ἀσύγκριτος, ὁ πανταχοῦ ὢν καὶ τοῖς πᾶσι παρὼν καὶ ἐν οὐδενὶ ὡς ἐνόν τι ὑπάρχων, ὁ τόποις μὴ περιγραφόμενος, ὁ χρόνοις μὴ παλαιούμενος, ὁ αἰῶσι μὴ περατούμενος, ὁ λόγοις μὴ παραγόμενος, ὁ γενέσει μὴ ὑποκείμενος, ὁ φυλακῆς μὴ δεόμενος, ὁ φθορᾶς

The Order of the Communion.

Fyrste the personne, uicar or curat, the next Sonday or holy day, or at the least one day before he shall minister the Communion, shal geue warnyng to his parysshioners, or those whyche be present, that they prepare them selfes therto, saiyng to them openlie and plainlie as herafter followeth, or such lyke.

Dere frendes, and you especially, upon whose soules I haue cure and charge, upon daye next I doe intende by Godes grace to offer to all suche as shalbe therto godlie dysposed, ye most comfortable Sacrament of the body and bloude of Chryste, to be taken of them in the remembrance of his most fruictfull and gloryous passion. By the which passion we have obteined remission of our synnes, and be made partakers of the kyngdom of heuen; wherof we be assured and asserteyned yf we come to the sayd Sacrament, with hartye repentance for our offences, stedfast faith in Godes mercye, and earnest mynde to obey godes wyll, and to offend no more: wherfore our duety is, to come to these holy misteries with most harty thankes to be geuen to almightye God, for his infinite mercy and benefites, geuen and bestowed upon vs, his vnworthye seruauntes, for whome he hath not only

geuen his body to death and shed his bludde, but also dothe vouchesaufe in a Sacrament, and mysterye, to geue vs his said body and bloud spiritually, to fede and drynke vpon. The whych Sacrament, being so diuine and holy a thynge, and so comfortable to them whych receaue it worthelye, and so daungerous to them that will presume to take the same vnworthely: my duty is to exhorte you, in the meane season, to consyder the greatnes of the thynge, and to searche and examyne your awne consciences, and that not lightlie, nor after the maner of dyssimulers wyth god; But as they which should come to a most godly and heauenlie banket: not to come, but in the maryage garment, requyred of God in scripture, that you maye so much as lyeth in you, be founde worthie to come to suche a table: The wayes and meanes therto is.

Fyrst, that you be truly repentaunte of your former euell life, and that you confesse wyth an vnfayned harte to almyghtie god your synnes and vnkindnes to wardes his Maiestye committed eyther by wil, worde or dede, infirmitie or ignoraunce, and that wyth inwarde sorowe and teares, you bewayle your offences, and requier of almightye god, mercy, and pardon, promising to him, from the botome of your hartes, thamendment of your former life. And emonges all others, I am commaunded of God, especially to moue and exhorte you, to reconcile your selfs to your neyghbours, whome you haue offended, or who hath offended you, puttynge out of your hartes, al hatered and malyce against them, and to be in loue and charyte wyth all the worlde, and to forgeue other, as you would that God should forgeue you. And if there be any of you, whose conscience is troubled and greued in any thing, lacking comforte or counsaile, let him come to me, or
