Holocaust Project: From Darkness Into LightPenguin Books, 1993 - 205 pages Relates the story of the conception and design of the author's extensive work of art, the "Holocaust Project, " commissioned by the Spertus Museum of Judaica in Chicago. The work consists of a tapestry - twelve pictures combining painting and photographic techniques and three stained glass panels. Most of the book consists of entries from the author's diary from 1985-92, describing the development of her interest in the Holocaust and in her Jewish roots, her study of the literature on the Holocaust, and travels to Europe, Israel, and Australia. The exhibition of this art work aims to place the Holocaust in historical context and to connect it with other cases of genocide and persecution in the modern world.
